Requirements for energy neutral construction get stricter every year, and building to the standard is no longer enough on its own. Van Wijnen has to show it, per home, with data that holds up. That means reading solar panels, heat pumps and meters from different manufacturers inside the same house, over different protocols, and doing it the same way in a hundred homes without adding a service visit to every one of them.

The Wattmaestro gateway speaks several standard protocols at once, so one device per home reads everything in it: solar, heat pump, meters, appliances. Measurement data goes through the API into the systems of property manager Fijn Wonen. Now, every home gets a 10 kWh battery and a three phase hybrid inverter, and the Wattmaestro EMS times the charging on EPEX day ahead prices.

Van Wijnen has calculated the business case and the early results are positive. The first full measurement set follows shortly. The clearest signal is the follow up itself: in Wolvega the platform moves from measuring to steering, with active battery optimisation in every home. Same gateway, same rollout, one step closer to energy neutral housing at real scale.
